It was amazing! UT Cheer and Pom were there, the whole shebang. The place was always buzzing with Longhorn spirit.

• I dug a little deeper, trying to figure out what was going on.
• Turns out, there were some issues with the university's policies.
• I read something about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
• There was a new law, SB 17, that affected a lot of things.
• Around April, they laid off a bunch of staff - about 60 people - in what the institution called an effort to comply with SB 17.

Then I learned that there was conflict with the Big 12 and the SEC. Also, there was the new TV deal with ESPN. The university made headlines in April.

Honestly, I felt a bit lost. This club was more than just a place to eat. It was part of the UT Austin experience. There are so many ways to get involved at UT – over 1,000 student organizations, legislative groups, sororities, fraternities, the student newspaper, sports teams, you name it.

Eventually, it became clear. The club wasn't just closing temporarily. It was for good. It's a real shame. Another one bites the dust, I guess. This place will definitely be missed. And it will affect the students who depend on them, that is for sure.

I just wanted to share my experience and what I found out. It's sad to see such a beloved place go.
